First Player

Three fair ways to decide who goes first — no arguing, no repeated rock-paper-scissors.

Choosing a method

Tap the method tabs at the top to switch between three ways to pick a first player:

Using Cards or Names

  1. Add your players in the setup list below the cards. Each can have a name and color.
  2. Tap Shuffle (Name mode) or Deal (Card mode) to pick.
  3. The result is shown front and center. Tap again to draw another if needed.
  4. Your player list is saved — no need to re-enter names next session.

Saving & loading players

The Export button saves your player list — names and colors — as a small file. Use Import to restore it any time.

What is a JSON file? JSON is just a text format apps use to store data. You don't need to read or edit it — just save the file when prompted and load it back to restore your group. The file will be named name-players.json.

Your player list is saved automatically between sessions. You only need to export if you want to share your list across devices or back it up.

Add to home screen

Install the app on your home screen so it's ready in seconds when everyone sits down to play.

  1. Open the app in Safari (must be Safari, not Chrome or Firefox).
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add to confirm.

Android · Chrome

  1. Open the app in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
